The control handle is suspended with metal
springs, which provide great ergonomics as well as the measurement
means to determine the six degrees of freedom. |

Axiglaze has developed a unique, patented Inductive Spring
3D-technology (IS3D). The technology allows production of controllers
that can simultaneously control six degrees of freedom (6DOF). This
gives the user the freedom to intuitively manipulate all translations
and rotations connected with the three axes x, y and z.
The trick
with IS3D is to measure the position of the control handle directly in
the suspension itself. Thus there is no need for extra sensors. You
have the sensors virtually for free. The sensor is the suspension
spring itself, which wouldn't cost more than approximately one US cent
in large volumes. This technology is patented and belongs to Axiglaze
AB.
